As reported by National Broadcasting radio stated that Dr Chitalu Chilufya who is Zambian Health Minister announced as of 25 July 2020  that 15 Members of Parliament tested positive for Convid-19 desease and are being isolated in various facilities and also 11 members from the August House also tested positive for the desease. The Minister did not disclose the names of the MPs that tested positive and he continued saying non of them was critically ill but assured the Nation that they are isolated and getting treatment in the Convid-19 Isolation Centers.

During his speech Lusaka on 25 July during the daily updates, Chilufya announced also  that Zambia has recorded 154 new cases of COVID-19 and that the new cases were from the 835 tests conducted on 24 to 25 July only. The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country now stands at 3,856.

Dr. Chilufya said two deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours and this includes one of the critically ill patient at Levy Mwanawasa Isolation Center.

Meanwhile, 253 patients have been discharged among people being nursed at the health facilities and on home isolation. This brings the total recovered to 1,941.

Speaking during the mass testing exercise, Right Honourable the Vice President Inonge Wina, MP, said it was imperative for every Member of Parliament (MP) to test and know their COVID-19 status considering that they will be interacting with their families and constituents. She also urged all Zambians not to hesitate but to go for test of Corona Virus as it is a  serious disease.

The Speaker Matibini also encouraged staff of the National Assembly and MPs to take the test, pointing out that MPs were the hem of political leadership in the country and therefore needed to be examplary.

Government  emphasized that  there is a need to prioritize in investing much on testing kits as this will help to detect the virus in time to avoid over spread of the pandemic.

I feel it's now mandatory to take all the precaution measures seriously as the Convid-19 is not selective.
