Cattles feeding in the farms-Tete

In most of African countries yearly animals do suffer different types of diseases and most common one to the cattles is Foot and Mouth disease.

This time it's Mozambique where many cattles have been affected and government intervention shows that it has acquired vacination which will cost $2 millions (approximately €1.6millions)


The campaign will cover a total of 450,000 animals in the provinces of Manica, Tete, Zamb├ęzia, Nampula, Inhambane and Gaza, a source from the National Directorate for Livestock Development said.

The campaign which will take at least two years will also cover cattle within a 20 kilometre radius of conservation areas or near the borders with South Africa, Malawi and Zimbabwe.

The Maputo authorities have recently banned the movement and concentration of livestock in some areas after first case was reported in Magude Area.

The disease affects animals' production, but has no effects on people's health. It is also commonly experienced in countries like Malawi, East African countries as well.
