Peter Was Mutharika
Former President of Republic of Malawi

Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is a Malawian politician and lawyer and a brother to the Late President Bingu Wa Mutharika who ruled from 2004 to 2012.

Peter was President of Malawi from May 2014 to June 2020 after accepted a defeat by the opposition Leader Dr Lazarus M Chakwera.

Mutharika worked in the field of International Justice, specialising in international economic law, international law and comparative constitutional law and also worked as a Lecturer in the United States of America for close to 30 years.

In every country there is a routine when the president is leaving the office he needs to have a wonderful retirement home and package.

This was witnessed by the Former President of Malawi Mr Nelson Bakili Muluzi who built a multi-Billion residence in Blantyre City Assembly Hill (BCA  Hill).

The same happened with the late President Bingu Wa Mutharika who built his own in his home District Thyolo and it is populary called "Casablanca".

It came the year of 2020 when people removed President Peter Mutharika in general Elections that were held in June 23.

When the results were rumoured that the opposition were leading he immediately conceded a defeat and left the Presidential House with the whole Convoy that escorted him to his house in Mangochi District.

This is when the people discovered the most expensive building that was built by him for his retirement period.

The house is estimated at the value of about $3 Million because the owner did not come out to declare all the pennies that were used to build the most expensive mansion in Malawi.

Despite the country being lower and many people living on $0.15 as their daily expenses but there is Money enough for few individuals who are are able to build big houses.

Currently President Peter Mutharika was being accused of Cement deal which witnessed about 2500 trucks of cement entered duty free and that his personal bank accounts were also frozen by the Ant-Corruption Bereau.
